Hi, my name is
Héctor Pérez
Software engineer with a thing for encryption.
Senior architect by day, tinkerer by night. After 15 years shipping software for banks and telecoms, I now spend my time on DevOps, cryptography, and tools like Cryptek.
About Me
I'm a Cybernetics Engineer who found his path in software development. Over 15 years I've worked across the full stack — from building payment platforms for a global digital-security company, to designing microservices for a major telecom, to shipping .NET systems for a leading European bank.
These days I focus on DevOps, platform engineering, and cryptography. Outside of work I give old hardware new lives as home servers, tinker with electronics, and build tools like Cryptek.
Here are some technologies I work with:
- Go
- Kubernetes / Helm
- Java / J2EE
- Terraform
- C# / .NET
- Docker
- Node.JS
- Azure / GitLab CI

Things I've Built
Featured Project
Cryptek
A command-line encryption tool I built from scratch in Go, because I wanted to trust the thing guarding my files. AES-256-GCM with Argon2id key derivation, encrypted headers, secure deletion, RAM-based decryption — and 17 rounds of security review and 500+ tests behind it.
Cryptek Installer
Cross-platform one-line install script. Detects OS and architecture, downloads the right binary, and verifies its SHA-256 checksum before installing anything.

Want to talk shop, ask about Cryptek, or just say hi? Send me an email — I read everything. In the meantime, I write about Linux, macOS, and cryptography at commandprompt.blog.
